Pondering over the kitchen.

I've had a hard time prioritizing what I want to do first. I think for a 'first round' of home updates that our kitchen will be one of he most costly project, but I think it will also be the best.

Now in general I really love our kitchens layout. It's wide open and right there off the living room. It truly is the heart of our home, and being such I want to make it a kitchen worthy of an award. (Even if I have to create such award myself.)

As you can see in the picture above the kitchen is a very open and brightly lit space. But there is a lot to be done here. Number one being the wall paper needs to go away, and number two the cabinets need to be repainted.

In this picture you can see the top garage door (blue) and the doorway leading into our laundry room. I think we'll be removing the door to the laundry room for a couple of reasons. Main purpose would be because of the very cost effective attic fan. If you even think about opening the garage doorway the attic fan will close the other door making it a task to reopen. Plus we could put this door to good use elsewhere (reason number two.)
I don't exactly hate wood, or the look of it. Infact I like the wooden counter tops. Sure I would love some granite, but we're not looking at spending that kind of money. I think painting the cabinets a very bright white will help offset the excessive wood paneling in the house. Another thing that needs to go are the awful hardware.

In the picture above you can kind of see my inspiration for what I want this kitchen to be based on. Those lovely strawberry canisters were my grandmother's, and I would love to incorporate some red and green in a delicate and not overwhelming way. Also, because my fiance has inherited quite a bit of the kitchen decorations, we'll be painting and swapping out a few things.

List of what we're gonna do and the estimated cost:

Paint - 150.00
White - cabinets
Green - walls
Red - Chairs and misc furniture

New dishwasher - 300

New cabinet hardware - 100.00

Removing door - free

Total: 550

The madness begins.

A few short months ago my fiance and I decided to finish 'redoing' the front bathroom. And by redoing I mean picking a new paint color, shower curtain, toothbrush holder, some towels. All of the seemingly simple things to do when fixing up a semi-outdated restroom.

Bathroom after:

It's not finished completely. And we're still trying to figure out a few other things to add to it's personality.

And since then an obsession has grown inside of me. I can't stop thinking about what we should do next, and how the house will look in five years. I'm not indecisive, but I want to start out with baby-steps and make sure we're heading in the right direction.
